Dr Amit Michael is a very experienced cardiologist who completed his medical training at the prestigious Christian Medical College in India followed by cardiology training at the Waikato Hospital in New Zealand and the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He furthered his skills by pursuing an interventional cardiology fellowship at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. Dr Michael then completed an additional 12 months in a structural heart interventional fellowship at the world class Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Dr Michael’s expertise includes general cardiology, cardiac imaging, coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention including complex coronary intervention. Structural intervention procedures performed by Dr Michael include transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), valve in valve implantation, valve in ring implantation, Mitraclip, Triclip, transcatheter mitral valve replacement, balloon mitral valvuloplasty, paravalvular leak closure, patent foramen ovale (PFO) / atrial septal defect (ASD) closure and left atrial appendage closure. He currently works as a Staff Specialist cardiologist at the North Canberra Hospital. He is also accredited as a Visiting Medical Officer at the Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney where he undertakes all his cardiac interventions.
