About Me
Dr Ala Mustafa and his family relocated to Canberra in 2019 to support the paediatric department at Calvary Hospital and Canberra Hospital during the peak of the pandemic. After falling in love with this city, he made the decision to stay on and make Canberra his home. Dr Mustafa completed his medical degree MD in Jerusalem. He has completed his internship, residency and basic paediatric training in London and Qatar. He then moved to Australia in 2010 to complete 4 years of advance training in paediatric at Sydney Children Hospital. He has completed 7 years of training in the field of paediatric cardiology at Hadassah University hospital in Jerusalem, Monash Heart, Royal Children Hospital in Melbourne as well as Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane. Dr Mustafa has just returned from London after spending time at world’s prestigious Great Ormond Street Hospital to gain state of art new advances in diagnosing children with complex heart disease. Dr Mustafa has specialised in congenital and acquired heart diseases in children with a special interest in paediatric echocardiography. Children are not small adults, and their health care needs, especially cardiac concerns, should be diagnosed and treated by specialists who understand the needs of children. He is dedicated in providing the least invasive and most advanced treatment for heart-related problems in children. Dr Mustafa is the first paediatric cardiologist to be based in Canberra.
